Introduction

This course is a Level 3 Diploma in Gas Engineering - Pathway D (Gas Safe Course), which is a City & Guilds qualification.

Running several times a year at either our Watford or Stevenage centres, it is open to anyone, whether you’re new to the gas industry or an experienced engineer.

The course is designed to equip you with the knowledge, skills and experience necessary for a construction or engineering career within the gas industry.

This includes a licence to practise which means you can apply for Gas Safe registration and work in the UK, Isle of Man and Guernsey.

If you are looking to build up QCF (Qualification Credit Framework) credits, for ongoing education, this diploma will build upon your existing credits and counts towards progression onto other QCF qualifications.

This course is for anyone interested in a sustainable and fulfilling career in gas.

It doesn’t matter if you’re an experienced domestic gas engineer looking to enhance your qualifications, or if you’re just starting out in your gas career.

How will I learn?

Our Level 3 Gas Diploma course runs from both our Stevenage and Watford Centres and is a blended learning program. You'll need to attend the centre two day per week, where learning will take place in the classroom and workshop.

You'll also have access to our online interactive learning platform where you can access learning materials, structured lessons, knowledge checks and assignments.

Your dedicated tutor will guide you through the program and assist with your learning on an ongoing basis. During the course, you'll build a portfolio of evidence consisting of practical activities carried out in the workshop and workplace.

How long is the course?

The course runs for 26 weeks and requires you to attend our Watford or Stevenage centre 2 days per week.

When does the course start?

We are currently recruiting learners for our Level 3 Gas Diploma course for a start dates in August and February. We sometimes run additional courses subject to availability and demand, so please do apply online and we will advise the latest availability and dates.

Are there any entry requirements?

Do I need any materials or equipment to take the course?

Yes, but not much! Here’s what you’ll need:

  1. A Viper Gas Manual (cost £80 and available from our centre)
  2. Pens, paper, ruler, 2 x A4 folders, and a calculator.

All other tools and equipment required for training and practical workshops are provided by the centre.

You will also be required to dress appropriately.

Entry Requirements/ Pre-requisites

There are no qualifications required. However, you should be able to undertake Maths, English and ICT at Level 2.

We will assess your literacy and numeracy assessment as part of the interview process.

If you are not quite ready, we can also support you towards improving these skills.

In many cases, it is just a matter of taking some time to grow your skills and re-applying for the course later on.

The fee for this course is £5421.

You can access this course through the government Advanced Learner Loan scheme.

We are one of very few gas training centre in the UK offering this scheme.

If you’re 19 or over, you can apply for a loan to cover the full cost of this course (Level 3 Diploma).

You don’t have to pay it back until you’re earning over £25,000 a year.
